The Power Of Mornings: Why Waking up Early Boost productivity

Do you ever feel like there's just not enough time in the day? You want to go to the gym, finish your work, study, maybe even read a book-but somehow, the day slips away before you can do it all. What if I told you that the problem isn't a lack of time but when you start your day?

Why Should I Wake Up Early?

Isn't it the same if I just go to bed later and do my tasks at night? No, and here's why:

Let's say you start work at 9 AM, so you wake up at 8 AM, get ready, and head out. By the time you get home around 4 or 5 PM, you're already exhausted. Do you really think you'll have the energy to work out, read a book, cook dinner, and complete all your other tasks? Probably not. It's much harder to stay productive when you start your day late because your energy is already drained.

Step 1: Go to Bed with a Purpose

One of the biggest mistakes people make is going to bed without a plan for the next day. Before you sleep, remind yourself why you want to wake up early. Is it to have a calm morning before work? To get a workout in? To finally start that book you've been meaning to read?

Set your alarm and be intentional about waking up. Yes, it will be hard at first, but once you start noticing how much extra time you have and how much more productive you feel, it will be worth it.

💋 Tip: If you have an important task, do it first thing in the morning. For example, if you want to work out, do it before going to work or college. That way, when you get home, you've already completed a big part of your to-do list.

Scientific studies have shown that morning exercise helps regulate stress hormones and boosts mood, making it easier to stay focused throughout the day. When you start your morning with movement, you feel energized and motivated-like you can take on the world.

Step 2: How to Stay Motivated

I'm not going to lie-it's hard at first. I used to be a night owl, and waking up early felt impossible. But the thing that kept me going was the feeling of accomplishment at the end of the day.

At first, you might feel groggy when you wake up. That's normal. But after you work out and go through your routine, you'll start to feel like your day has doubled because of all the extra time you've gained.

Make Your Mornings Enjoyable

If you want to stay motivated, pair something you love with something you need to do. For me, it's drinking coffee while watching an episode of Gilmore Girls. My routine looks like this:

Step 1: Wake up, have breakfast
Step 2: Enjoy my coffee while watching
Gilmore Girls
Step 3: Work out

By adding something enjoyable (watching my favorite show) with something beneficial (exercising), I created a morning routine that I actually look forward to.

Step 3: Boosting Productivity

There's no secret-when you check something off your to-do list, it becomes addictive to complete more tasks.
When you start your day with an early win, you feel accomplished and motivated to continue. Productivity builds momentum.

Waking up early allows you to finish your most important tasks before distractions take over.

💋Tip: If a task feels overwhelming, break
it down into smaller steps. Completing smaller tasks one by one will make even the biggest goals feel manageable.

Step 4: Build a Strong Night Routine

Believe it or not, waking up early starts the night before. A good night routine is the key to a successful morning.
  • Go to bed earlier: If you're used to staying up late, start by going to bed 15-30 minutes earlier each night.
  • Limit screen time: The blue light from your phone or laptop can disrupt your sleep. Try reading a book or listening to relaxing music instead
  • Prepare for the next day: Lay out your workout clothes, prep your breakfast, or make a to-do list to set yourself up for success.
You might struggle at first, but soon enough, your body will adjust, and waking up early will feel natural.

Step 5: Believing in Yourself

This might sound cliché, but mindset is everything. If you truly believe you can become a morning person, your brain will start working in your favor.

If you wake up thinking, I'm going to have a productive day, your actions will follow that belief. But if you wake up doubting yourself, you'll struggle.

Just by reading this, you've already taken the first step toward a better version of yourself. Now, it's time to put it into action.

Final Thoughts

Becoming a morning person isn't about waking up just for the sake of it-it's about using that time to be more productive, disciplined, and fulfilled. It's not always easy, but once you experience the benefits, you won't want to go back.
